Grant suggested a few days ago that we not give each other Christmas presents this year. We have bought ourselves a new plasma television and a refrigerator in the last few weeks and quite frankly, we are in debt up to our eyeballs. (Anybody want to buy a boat?? I can get you a great deal!) I know he's right, but I countered with the suggestion that we limit our spending to a certain dollar amount. He hasn't quite agreed, but I imagine he will.

No! You NEED presents!
I'm dealing with a similar thing right now. I, too, want presents.
I only think it's fair if you both agreed ahead of time that they would be your Christmas presents to each other.
I think your suggestion is perfectly reasonable.
Dwayne and I do this every year. Except he would be the Allison in this scenario.
By the way, every year, I give in. :-)
If I don't have something with a bow and a wrapping and a gift tag - there will be no world peace.
